| "The Proof is in the Pudding", or so they say.
Well, having automated your system with PLC control of the
various items of equipment, you can see that your plant is
actually running. But how do you find out if there is anything
wrong with the system or cross-reference your stock database
?
This is where Data Solutions expertise comes in.
We can produce a program to run on a PC which will communicate
with any proprietary PLC. This can take the form of a SCADA
package or a Management Information System (MIS) that receives
requests from the PLC for data, such as a barcode identifier
to be printed onto a package.
Although this software can be adapted for use with PLC code
written by a third party, with Data Solutions innovative Self
Diagnostic Sequencer forming part of our PLC code, it is possible
to use a PC to ascertain exactly what stage of the process
is currently being carried out. This can be extremely useful
for example, in identifying why a process has stopped.
The PC can be used to control ancillary hardware and software
such as barcode scanners, stock control software, printers
and overhead displays, leaving the PLC to control the main
process, merely obtaining any data required from the PC.
It is this link between PC`s and the PLC controlling your
plant which gives you complete confidence in your system.
The addition of a modem can enable you to find out what is
happening on your system from anywhere in the world and to
make any management decisions required.
